Day One Wiki
I want to welcome everyone to Day One Wiki, the wiki for the new NBC show Day One that will premiere in the 2010 season.
In 2006 I founded Heroes Wiki, a community driven wiki that over the past years has become one of the top Heroes sites on the web. With thousands of users and thousands of articles on the show it's proven an incredibly useful resource not only for fans of the show but even for the crew. When I heard about Day One I saw potential in the show that I have not seen since hearing about Heroes. It's my hope that Day One is a very successful series. When a series is successful there is a lot of community interest which is the primary driving force behind any wiki community. With your help this wiki will become great. There is a lot of work ahead, but I speak from experience when I say that there will be a sense of pride and accomplishment when you look back and see how far the site evolves in such a short time.
Those coming from existing wikis know that over time a lot of processes, precedents, and naming conventions dictate how things are done. As a new wiki this is an opportunity for the community to decide from scratch how things should be done. This is certainly an incremental process as differences between shows often require new processes to be developed on the fly. While there are some low-level processes that can be incorporated from other sites, we want to remain as flexible as possible and should always reevaluate them if they don't suit our needs. Since this is a new wiki many changes can be made more easily and with less impact than can be done on large existing sites.
One of the primary goals should always be to foster a community environment. The success or failure of a wiki is heavily dependent on the community that supports it. As such please try to remain civil and helpful at all times. People have varying degrees of experience working with wikis and we should try to accommodate everyone. Some of the best ideas can come from people who aren't encumbered by the thinking and processes of other wikis so we should always try to embrace new ideas with an open mind.
